What is CanopyLink?
A purpose-built, web-based tool developed with investigative genetic genealogists to assist in unknown parentage cases as well as unsolved cold cases.
Our story
Built by genealogists, for genealogists.
CanopyLink was created in 2025 by Scott Foster, with guidance and oversight from Cairenn Binder and David Gurney, investigative genetic genealogy experts.
Answering the call for secure, web-based tree-building software made specifically for investigative genetic genealogy teams, CanopyLink was born ready to help with complicated family mysteries as well as law enforcement investigations.
It is still built the same way: a request comes in from a team using it on a real case, and the feature ships. Some of the latest are just below, and two of the three quotes further down are about exactly that.
